Portal Terms of Use
Effective October 16, 2026 · Version portal-terms-2026-10-16.1
For parents, guardians and students using a tutoring center's portal on Novano. A short read — about two minutes.
Your center or tutor is who you signed up with. We make the software they run on, and these terms cover your use of it.
1. Who these terms are for
These terms are for parents, guardians and students who use a tutoring center's or tutor's portal on Novano. They are short on purpose.
You signed up with a center or tutor, not with us. They decide what you are taught, what you are charged, and what information about you they keep. Novano makes the software they run it on. So if something about your classes, fees or records needs changing, your center is who can change it — and your agreement about lessons and fees is with them, not with us.
If you are the business that bought Novano, these are not your terms. Yours are the Terms of Service.
2. How your access works
- Your center invites you. You sign in with a link sent to your email address — there is no password to remember.
- That link is you. Anyone who opens it can see what you can see, so please don't forward it. Tell us at support@novano.ai if you think someone else has used your access.
- Your center controls who sees what, and can change or end your access at any time. We can also suspend access if it is being used in the ways described in the next section.
3. What the portal is for
Use it for your own classes with your center — or, if you are a parent, your children's. That is the whole of what it is for.
Please don't:
- try to reach information about other families, students or staff;
- share your access, or use someone else's;
- upload anything unlawful, or anything abusive or harmful towards another person — including in messages, assignment work and live classes;
- copy information out of the portal in bulk, or use software to collect it automatically;
- interfere with the service, or try to get at parts of it that are not yours.
4. If you are a parent or guardian
A child cannot use the student side of the portal until a parent or guardian agrees. We show you a notice describing what is collected about your child and we record your agreement — your center does not do that on your behalf, and a child's access stays closed until it is given.
What that agreement covers, in short:
- what your center enters about your child — classes, attendance, assignments, grades and notes;
- what your child does in the portal — their assignment answers and whiteboard work, and their camera and microphone in a live class if they switch them on. Cameras start off, every time, and we do not record what happens in a class.
We use it to run the service for your center and your family, and for nothing else. No advertising, no selling it on, and no identifier for a child goes to our analytics provider.
You can review what is held about your child, ask for it to be deleted, or withdraw your agreement at any time — from the portal, from your center, or by writing to privacy@novano.ai. Withdrawing closes your child's access to assignments and live classes until a parent agrees again.
The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
5. Work and messages in the portal
What a student writes, draws or uploads stays theirs. Putting it in the portal lets the center teach with it and lets a parent see it — nothing more.
We do not use what is in your center's account to train AI models. Some features are built on AI services that process text to produce a result — a generated worksheet, a summary — and those services act for us under contract.
6. If you pay your center through Novano
Some centers collect fees through Novano. When they do, the center is the seller and sets the fees, the refunds and the payment terms; card details are handled by our payments provider, not held by us. We are not a party to that sale, so questions about an amount, a refund or a receipt go to your center. If a center asks us, we can help them look into it.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep the portal available, but it can be interrupted by maintenance or by faults — so please don't rely on it as the only copy of something that matters to you.
We may update these terms. When a change is material we will say so in the portal or by email before it takes effect, and the version below tells you which text you are reading. Your center can end your access at any time; you can stop using the portal at any time.
8. Contact
Your center first, for anything about classes, fees or your records — they are closest to it and can usually fix it fastest.
