Nova

Nova sees across the whole center. You decide what happens next.

Your fees, attendance, schedule, leads and staff work already know what needs doing — they just know it in five different places. Nova is the layer that reads all of them at once, tells you what matters this morning, and lets you deal with it there.

Three things, in one motion.

Notice, understand, handle — without the context resetting between them.

Brief

What needs you, ordered by what it costs to ignore. Fees behind, replies waiting, tasks overdue, a class without cover — pulled from across the center rather than from one screen.

Ask

Questions in your own words, answered from the live record: arrears, a student's history, a day's schedule, a fee account, the lead list, attendance. Not a search box — a read of the thing itself.

Act

Draft the reminder, record the payment, move the session, raise the task and give it an owner. Nova shows you exactly what it is about to do first, and waits.
Brief

The first screen is the answer, not a dashboard.

Novano opens on what needs you — ordered, with the reason attached and the next step already on the row.

Nova's Brief in Novano: a heading reading four things need you this morning, then fee arrears with the three most overdue families and a draft-reminder action on each row, an overdue task, replies waiting, and a schedule conflict needing cover — with an ask box at the bottom
Money first, because it was the most overdue — not because fees sit at the top of a fixed list. The order is the judgment.
Ask

Questions in your words, answered from the record.

Ask what you would ask a very well-briefed colleague. Nova reads the live record to answer — the same arrears rollup, student history, day schedule, fee account, lead list and attendance report your team works in.

Which means an answer can be checked. Every figure it gives you exists on a screen you can open, and it will tell you which one.

  • “Who is most overdue, and by how long?”
  • “What does Thursday look like, and who is teaching it?”
  • “Show me the leads nobody has replied to.”
  • “How has Amara been doing in Algebra II?”

Act

It shows you what it is about to do, then waits.

Draft a fee reminder, record a payment, move a session or a whole class, raise a task and put someone's name on it. Each one arrives as a preview of the exact change — this student, this amount, this date — and nothing happens until you confirm.

Marking attendance is the one that doesn't stop to ask, because it is reversible in a single step. That distinction is drawn in the product, not in the marketing.

  • A preview of the specific change, before it happens
  • Reminders and replies land as drafts — you send them
  • Work that needs a person becomes a task with an owner and a date
  • Nothing Nova offers is an action you couldn’t take yourself

Permissions

Nova has no permissions of its own.

It runs as the person using it. Each thing Nova can do declares the capability it needs — viewing fees, marking attendance, working leads, changing center settings — and the set available in a conversation is cut down to that person's role before the conversation starts.

So a tutor asking about center revenue doesn't get a filtered answer. There is no tool in the room that could produce one. The same rule that governs the screens governs Nova, because it goes through them.

  • Owner, administrator, front desk and tutor each get a different Nova
  • Enforced where the data is, not by hiding options
  • The Brief itself is role-shaped — a tutor's is about teaching
The same Novano navigation seen by an owner and by a tutor, side by side: the owner has fees, reports and staff; the tutor sees only their own classes, students and schedule

Why it can answer at all.

Nova isn’t reading a copy of your center. It reads the record your team creates by doing the work — which is why the answers reconcile with the screens.

  1. Your team works
  2. One record
  3. Nova reads it
  4. You confirm

There is no separate step that keeps Nova up to date, and nothing to maintain for it.

What Nova will not do.

The limits are the product's, and they are deliberate. A center handing an intelligence layer the keys should know exactly which doors it can open.

It does not act on its own

Nothing consequential happens without a person saying yes to a specific preview. Running low-risk changes unattended is held back deliberately, not still being built.

It has no permissions of its own

Nova runs as the person using it. A tutor asking about center revenue doesn’t get a redacted answer — the question has no tools behind it to answer with.

It drafts; you send

Reminders and replies arrive as drafts in your hands. Nova does not decide that a family should hear from you today and then tell them.

It is not the only way in

Everything Nova surfaces is reachable directly, and every action it offers exists as a screen. It’s a faster route through the same system, not a second one.

Questions

Good to know

What is Nova, exactly?

The intelligence layer across your center. It reads the same records your team works in — fees, attendance, schedules, students, leads, tasks — and turns them into a Brief of what needs attention, answers to questions you ask in your own words, and actions you can take without leaving the answer.

Does Nova act on its own?

No. Most actions show you a preview of exactly what will change and wait for a person to confirm; marking attendance is reversible in one step. Running low-risk reversible changes unattended is deliberately held back rather than switched on.

Can a tutor use Nova to see things they shouldn’t?

No, and not because answers get filtered afterwards. Each of Nova's tools declares the capability it needs, and the set available in a conversation is cut down to the role of the person in it. A tutor asking about center-wide revenue has no tool that could answer.

Where does Nova live?

Your home screen is the Brief, and Nova is reachable from anywhere in Novano — including a command palette on ⌘K. It carries the context of the page you were on, so asking about “this class” means the one in front of you.

Do I have to use Nova?

No. Every screen Nova reads from and every action it offers is somewhere you can go yourself. Centers that prefer to work through the screens lose nothing.

What is Nova not good at?

Anything that isn’t in your center's record. Nova reasons over what your team has entered — sessions, attendance, fees, notes, leads — so a question about something nobody recorded has no answer, and it will say so rather than guess.

Ask Nova about a center you already know.

Bring a week you could describe from memory, and see whether the Brief agrees with you.
